Houston Texans team preview before 2020 NFL Draft
Team Needs
Wide Receiver
Despite the fact that the Houston Texans added Brandin Cooks in a trade and signed Randall Cobb in free agency, a wide receiver is still a top need for Houston. The loss of DeAndre Hopkins is a huge void for this team moving forward. Cooks has a problem with always getting injured and so does Will Fuller. The Texans also have not resigned Kenny Stills or KeKe Coutee either. The Texans need to secure a wide receiver in this draft, they are gonna have to use an early draft pick as well.
Offensive Line
Houston needs to make protecting Deshaun Watson a priority, they did that last offseason. They traded for Laremy Tunsil to protect Watson’s blindside but the right side still needs a lot of help or Watson will just have to run for his life, like he has been for the last two seasons. Upgrading at guard or tackle would be huge for the Texans moving forward.
Cornerback
Houston was near the very bottom in interceptions in 2019. With the current roster, the Texans need to get another cornerback in this year’s draft. The Texans picked up two former first-round selections at cornerback but they still need to upgrade that position. If they can upgrade that position that will help out the entire team and you could see them back in the playoffs sooner than later.
