Andrew Thomas. LT. Georgia. 53. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 1.10. player

With Alabama’s Jedrick Wills and Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs going sixth and seventh, respectively, the Browns decide to move up to pick number eight to secure their franchise LT, and, in this writer’s opinion, by far the best offensive lineman in the class.

It’s not a cheap move, but the Browns are able to keep both their third-round picks this year, and make sure they aren’t choosing the leftover tackle that no other team wanted in the top 10.

A three-year starter for the Bulldogs, with two at left tackle, Thomas played well from the start, and improved to become a truly elite LT in the toughest conference in college football. He may not be as explosive an athlete as others in the class, but he’s more than athletic enough, has great size and strength, and insanely long 36 1/8″ arms. He has the best tape of any tackle in this class, and still has things he can improve on.

No prospect is every a sure thing, but Thomas has the highest floor of the tackle prospects. He doesn’t have to switch sides, has great physical tools, and was at his best against top competition – just go check out his performance against LSU’s projected top-15 pick K’Lavon Chaisson in 2019.

Consistency is what all offensive lineman strive for, and that’s what Thomas provides. He may not be a highlight-reel player, but when fans aren’t noticing their team’s LT, that’s a good thing. Mayfield now has one of the better offensive lines in the league, with two true bookends at tackle. Runningback Nick Chubb will also be pleased.
