2020 NFL Draft: Dream scenarios for teams with multiple firsts

San Francisco 49ers – Acquire multiple day-two picks

The 49ers can go in almost any direction with the 13th pick they acquired in the trade that sent All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts.

Receiver is an obvious area for them to address, but cornerback, offensive line and defensive line could all be on the table.

For San Francisco, though, this draft is less about who they draft on day one, and more about what day-two selections they are able to pick up, with the consensus being that they will look to move back from No. 31, if not from No. 13 as well.

After their two picks in round one, the 49ers are not scheduled to select again until round five.

In a draft where there is significant value to be had in rounds two and three, the 49ers cannot allow that to remain the case.

San Francisco has seen its division foes the Seattle Seahawks turn trading out of the first round for a haul of day-two picks into a fine art. For the 49ers to have a successful draft as they retool the roster in the wake of their Super Bowl LIV loss, they will likely need to borrow from the strategy their rivals have consistently employed.
