Arizona Cardinals team preview before 2020 NFL Draft
Team Needs
Offensive Tackle
The Arizona Cardinals are actually solid at left tackle with D.J. Humphries signing a three-year extension this offseason. However, on the right side of needs a big upgrade. Marcus Gilbert is under contract for this season but after that, he becomes a free agent. Gilbert is also very injured-prone, he has missed 12 games over the last three seasons. With the Cardinals being in the perfect situation to draft one of those top four tackles, they can solidify their starter for years to come.
Defensive Line
The Arizona Cardinals have a bunch of defensive tackles on the roster, Corey Peters, Zach Allen, Jonathan Bullard, Trevon Coley, Michael Dogbe, Miles Brown, and Lyndon Johnson. They only issue is that they all are average. The Cardinals signed Jordan Phillips from free agency this offseason but they need another reliable defensive tackle. If the Cardinals rather more away from tackle, I could see them taking Derrick Brown or Javon Kinlaw.
Cornerback
The Arizona Cardinals did not add any cornerback depth in free agency this offseason. The Cardinals drafted Byron Murphy in the second round in last year’s draft, which was forced to play the outside early because of Robert Alford breaking his leg in training camp and missed the entire 2019 season. Patrick Peterson is still their No.1 cornerback and with Pat Pete starting to get a bit on the older side, you could try to get some depth in the draft.
