Las Vegas Raiders – Amik Robertson, CB, Louisiana Tech

The Raiders selected Damon Arnette with the 19th overall pick but the argument can be made that fourth-round pick Robertson could have just as big of an impact as the former Buckeye.

Robertson’s diminutive frame – he stands at 5’8″ and 187 pounds – will likely have been a factor in him dropping to the end of the fourth round.

However, he is an extremely scrappy player who plays well above his size, and that aggressiveness must have appealed to Raiders general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden.

Even at the competition level of Conference USA, Robertson’s on-ball production was extremely impressive. He had five interceptions and six pass breakups in 2017 and then picked off four pass while recording 12 passes defensed in 2018.

Robertson rounded off an excellent collegiate career with five interceptions and 16 pass breakups last year.

The size will naturally lead some to have doubts over his ability to succeed to that extent in the pros.

Robertson, though, embraces the challenge of run support and between his tenacity and ball skills, has the skill set to start as a nickel corner right away.

The Raiders witnessed an encouraging rookie year from Trayvon Mullen, their second-round pick last year. If they hit on Arnette and Robertson, the back end of the defense will be in excellent shape.
