Samuel Cosmi looks to be the first Texas offensive lineman taken in the first round since 2002 as he looks to boost his portfolio before the 2021 NFL Draft

With the fourth pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select Mike Williams, offensive tackle, Texas. Those were the words the last time the Longhorns have had an offensive lineman selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. This year, left tackle Samuel Cosmi looks to change the Longhorns’ draft fortunes as he vies to be a first rounder in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 6-7, 310 pound and former three-star recruit out of Humble, Texas is entering his redshirt junior year with the Longhorns as he hopes to help Tom Herman get the Texas program back on track. Protecting Sam Ehlinger, Cosmi has been a stalwart on the Texas offensive line for the past two years, seeing his preseason draft hype gather steam.

With a ton of returning starters in Austin, the Longhorns look to win their first Big 12 title in over a decade. Cosmi will be a large part of both Texas’ and Ehlinger’s success in 2020, as he looks to pad his portfolio leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft.

Here is a detailed scouting report on the talented Texas tackle.
