AWARENESS (13.5/15):

Samuel Cosmi is extremely intelligent when it comes to identifying and picking up blitzes pre-snap, as well as switching off as he sees incoming pressure entering his zone. Cosmi is a man who is always searching for work from whistle-to-whistle, as he plays with discipline.

When protecting a mobile quarterback like Ehlinger, the offensive line has to rely on instincts to know which direction their gunslinger is heading. Cosmi plays with active eyes and his head on a swivel to stay one step ahead of what is developing in front of him.

OVERALL (8.821: First round grade):

This writer’s second overall offensive tackle in the 2021 NFL Draft class behind only the once in a decade prospect in Oregon’s Penei Sewell, Cosmi has the real potential to become the first Texas offensive lineman to hear their name called in the first 32 picks next Spring. A well-rounded tackle, Cosmi enters the 2020 season with a solid portfolio already.

Solid feet, solid hands, a highly intelligent blindside, and a strong bully, Cosmi checks many of the boxes NFL teams will look for when looking to upgrade their offensive line with young talent. Barring an injury, suspension, a delayed season, or a season completely opposite of his 2019 campaign, Cosmi will continue to be one of the best offensive tackles in the country.
