Ohio State WR/RB Jaelen Gill joins Jeff Hafley at Boston College

Buried on the depth chart at Ohio State, Jaelen Gill is heading to Boston College.
The Ohio State University Buckeyes came one game short of the National Championship game, losing to Clemson in heartbreaking fashion a year ago. As often happens when good teams keep winning, their coaching staff take head jobs elsewhere; this was the case as defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley took the head coaching position at Boston College.
Joining him at Boston College is soon to be redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jaelen Gill. The former Ohio State receiver entered the transfer portal after only five catches in two seasons in Columbus. With youngster Garrett Wilson and former number five overall prospect Julian Fleming set to take a massive amount of reps, Gill remained buried on the depth chart.
Through two seasons, one of which he redshirted within his four game window, Gill has tallied only 62 yards and one touchdown in the scarlet and grey. While he was recruited as a running back, Gill has yet to take a single carry in his collegiate career.
With a familiar face in Hafley, the transition to the east coast may be a bit smoother for the former four star recruit. It is unknown as to whether he will play wide receiver or running back with the Eagles, but Hafley lands a versatile weapon nonetheless.
The Boston College football program has not been relevant since Matt Ryan came through their grounds, but Hafley hopes to change the fortunes of the Eagles soon. Landing former top recruits like Gill via the transfer portal will help Hafley accomplish his mission sooner rather than later.
