CB Bobby McCain

Defensive back Bobby McCain is one of the holdovers from the Adam Gase era for the Miami Dolphins. After transitioning from corner to safety in 2019, there are much more opportunities for McCain to play on defense. However, the Dolphins added another safety this off-season and McCain has a contract that the Dolphins can get out of. Head coach Brian Flores looks to have his fingerprints all over the secondary and a player who is expensive and he did not bring in is more likely to be moved by this regime.

With the addition of Texas safety Brandon Jones, McCain needs a good season to persuade the Dolphins to keep him past 2020. While Jones plays in the box, Brian Flores loves to be versatile and move players all over the field. They also have young defensive backs in Noah Igbinoghene and Nik Needham that they can deploy all over the field. If the Dolphins cut McCain after the 2020 season, the Dolphins can save almost $6 Million with only about a million in dead cap.

With so much roster turnover for the second straight off-season, it is likely that even more than these three players are entering make or break seasons with the Miami Dolphins. There are still a good amount of players from the previous regime still on the roster and Brian Flores is looking to make this team in his image with focus on the secondary and the trenches.
