Why Jordan Love should have Packers fans ready for the future
Jordan Love to the Packers was quite the shock
The Green Bay Packers shocked the entire football world when they traded up into the draft to secure Aaron Rodgers‘ successor. The Packers traded up four spots to secure the Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft.
While everyone else really did not like this move when the news first broke, I was one of the only ones who really liked this move by the Green Bay Packers. Love is a quarterback that is not NFL ready yet, he needs time before making his first-ever NFL start. The Packers did the same thing with Brett Farve when they drafted Rodgers in 2005.
Love is a very raw player still that has tons of upside and having him learn from one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game will only help Love in the long run and the Green Bay Packers. Having time to develop when a quarterback is not NFL ready can be the difference between the Patrick Mahomes situation from the Mitchell Trubisky situation.

Now let’s talk about Love’s play on the field. Love is a quarterback that has a very high ceiling in this current day NFL. The quarterback that I think Love reminds me of is Phillip Rivers. Love has a very impressive deep ball and he can throw a ball with great velocity. Even though Love is very raw, he can still deliver a great ball when he is off-based or throwing the ball from an awkward angle.
The only negative thing that I will say about the Packers drafting Jordan Love in the first round is that the Packers have a win-now team. You can argue that the Packers should have taken a linebacker, they lost Blake Martinez due to free agency and you could have also argued that the Packers should have drafted a wide receiver.
Think about the Pack over the last 30 years, they have only had two quarterbacks. I give kudos to Green Bay for taking a risk and also looking towards the future that does not have Rodgers in it. Packers fans might be happy currently but when you look 10-15 years down the road you will look back and think about the time that you guys traded up to go get Jordan Love while you still have Rodgers.
