The Cardinals landed one of the best players in the country in Isaiah Simmons

Second year head coach  of the Arizona Cardinals Kliff Kingsbury is known to be more of an offensive coach. It was a bit of a shock when the Cardinals selected Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Many thought the Cards would go with Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, to pair him up with his former quarterback Kyler Murray and his Big 12 ties to Kingsbury. It would be really fun to watch DeAndre Hopkins and Lamb catch balls from Murray but when there is a player of that caliber still on the board like Simmons, you can not let him slip away. When you are playing on the NFC West division, you are going to need a very good defense. This Simmons pick from the Cards just made to much sense.

The Cardinals already have Jordan Hicks and De’Vondre Campbell at inside linebacker. Simmons will get a lot of playing time but the Cards are going to have to get creative with the way that they use him. Simmons obviously played a bunch of positions on the defense side of the ball, so it will not be very hard to get him into a spot on that defense.

Vance Joseph will get very creative with the way that he will use his new toy on defense now. Simmons could come in and play inside and outside linebacker on third-down packages. Simmons could also go play safety on third and long. Simmon could line up on the outside and rush the passer if he asked to do so. Joseph is going to have a bunch of fun with Simmons and his elite skill set that he possess.

Besides the Bengals and the Redskins the other five teams that passed up on Isaiah Simmons made a huge mistake. When it all said and done, Simmons has the best chance to be the best player that has come out of his year’s draft class. The Arizona Cardinals and Kingsbury have landed someone that has one of the best skill sets in the entire NFL.
