Could Packers use Jordan Love in Taysom Hill-like role?
By Cory Kinnan
The Packers may have an immediate plan for Jordan Love after all
While the nation was bewildered when the Green Bay Packers selected Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, this is not a new trend the team has never done before. Back in the 2005 NFL Draft, the Packers did the same, selecting Aaron Rodgers with Brett Favre still on the roster.
Repeating history, it is not Rodgers who has had the future without him planned around instead of Favre. However, unlike Rodgers, the Packers may not be planning to sit Love for long as he could see a role immediately in 2020 as a rookie.
Packers’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was asked about how Love would be used in 2020, and he did not give the expected answer. The expected answer would have been that Love would sit for a year, two, even three until Rodgers had moved on (just as Favre did), but that was not the response of the Green Bay offensive coordinator.

"“I think everything’s still so early to tell… Haven’t even really gotten to sit in a meeting room at Lambeau. I haven’t gotten to talk with him much or work face to face. I think there’s so much yet to be seen. You never know. Anything can happen.” (via NY Post)"
This is not a definitive answer that the Packers will look to involve Love in a similar role that Taysom Hill has found with the New Orleans Saints, but the door is wide open. It would be wise of the Packers to protect the future face of the franchise in Love rather than trot him out in tricky formations, though.
While the Packers may not know exactly what their plan is moving forward, they certainly do not want to jeopardize what they have in Love. Will they look to utilize him as a rookie, or will they look to ease him into the NFL by sitting him behind one of the best in the league right now?
