RB Devontae Booker

Alabama rookie Josh Jacobs has emerged as a bell cow back for the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacobs was the best rookie running back by a country mile in 2019. He finished the season with 1,150 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He was also able to haul in 20 balls for 166 yards in the passing game for Jon Gruden’s Raiders.

With Jacobs labeled as the “Power back” in the Raiders offense, they have added other players to be the more dynamic runner and have a bigger impact in the passing game. Jalen Richard signed a two year extension in February worth about $7 Million. Lynn Bowden comes in as a dynamic runner/receiver who looks to be a big play machine. Some of the other backs on the roster are Rod Smith, a huge player with some speed to his game and William Stanback, a second year player.

The odd man out in this running back room might be former Denver Broncos running back Devontae Booker. Booker has struggled to find any consistency in the NFL with Denver and was not brought back after four seasons in the Mile High City.

Devontae Booker could find himself without a job in 2020 after the NFL rosters trim down to 55 before week one. Booker doesn’t necessarily have anything that he does great and is already 27 years old. For a position as devalued as the running back position, the addition of two extra roster spots likely will not change anything in terms of how many teams carry.
