TE Nick O’Leary

Jon Gruden has added a flurry of tight ends since taking over the Raiders prior to the 2018 season. Darren Waller is the undisputed starter in Las Vegas after a breakout 2019 season. In his second season with the Raiders, Waller posted 90 catched for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns.

In the 2019 NFL draft, the Raiders drafted LSU tight end Foster Moreau, who had an encouraging rookie season. In 2019, Moreau posted 21 receptions for 174 yards and five touchdowns. The Raiders are also bringing back Derek Carrier, who has been with the team since 2018. In free agency, Las Vegas also signed future Hall of Famer Jason Witten from the Dallas Cowboys.

With all these tight ends, it may leave Nick O’Leary looking over his shoulder all throughout training camp and the preseason. The Raiders tight end room is crowded with talent and O’Leary doesn’t offer much to the offense. In 2018 with the Miami Dolphins, O’Leary was used creatively as an H-Back, but the Raiders already have a true fullback in Alec Ingold.

O’Leary is one of the most likely veteran cuts on the roster as the tight end room is full of players. As presently constructed, the roster just does not have enough space for him. Whenever teams add lots of talent in the off-season, there are surprise cuts and these four players should be looking to show out during training camp and the preseason.
