The Washington Redskins

There was a collective sigh when it was learned that Chase Young, one of the most dominant and exciting players to ever grace a college football field, would be taking his talents to D.C. and playing for the Redskins. Washington and their controversial owner, Dan Snyder, have had no shortage of embarrassing moments.

The biggest thing hanging over the franchise is their name. For years, people have debated the name “Redskins”. Activists have been campaigning that having a professional sports team with a name like that is indefensible. The debate about the name is for a different day and a different article. Does Snyder truly believe that the name is “Honoring” indigenous people? No, he’s just a billionaire owner who went to the Jerry Jones school of media believes that no publicity is bad publicity.

Somehow, having that name for their franchise is not the worst thing that has happened under Dan Snyder. Former disgruntled star Trent Williams revealed that he has had a cancerous tumor in his skull and the Redskins medical staff missed it. Not only a bad look for the franchise, but an unbelievable ordeal for Williams.

There was also the Kirk Cousins contract negotiation situation. Not only did the organization hit their quarterback with two consecutive franchise tags and flip flop all throughout the contract negotiation period. President Bruce Allen issued a video discussing the contract negotiations and called his quarterback “Kurt”. If there is anyone on the roster who’s name you know, it’s the quarterback right?

As early as this season, there was another Redskins’ controversy. A report came out that Washington coaches believed that their rookie quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, suffers from Dyslexia because he was so bad at reading the playbook. He does, in fact, not have dyslexia. Only in Washington do situations like these happen.
