Mock first round

The experiment of redrafting the NFL comes up every few months and is one of the more fun debates of the off-season. The first pick is always a quarterback and is always relatively young. However, the NFL has never had this many great young quarterbacks. The last two MVPs were in their second professional season. Without further ado, here is a mock version of the “NFL redraft”.

Cincinnati Bengals: Patrick Mahomes, QB
Washington Redskins: Russell Wilson, QB
Detroit Lions: Lamar Jackson, QB
New York Giants: Carson Wentz, QB
Miami Dolphins: Deshaun Watson, QB
Los Angeles Chargers: Kyler Murray, QB

Arizona Cardinals: Baker Mayfield, QB
Jacksonville Jaguars: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

Like stated previously, the only players worth using a first round pick on in this scenario are extremely talented quarterbacks in their prime and elite players at premium positions. To most, the most surprising pick is Aaron Donald. He is an interior defensive lineman, but provides the same impact as an edge rusher. That leads him to be the second non-quarterback off the board.

Notice how there are no pass catchers gone in the first round. Those are the type of players to take in later rounds. They are easily replaceable. Remember, the Detroit Lions made the playoffs in their first year without the legendary Calvin Johnson. Why, Because they have an elite quarterback.
