Draft is no guaranteed promise, Cowboys must lock down Dak Prescott

Put a bow on it
It is time for the Cowboys to stop playing games in negotiations with their franchise quarterback in Dak Prescott. At this point, the Cowboys are in danger of putting their relationship with one of the most consistently efficient, young quarterbacks that the game of football has to offer.
Do the Cowboys think it will be that easy to replace Prescott? A quarterback who has finished around the top-five in the league in almost every analytical and statistical category since entering the league in 2016? Do the Cowboys think it will be easy to replace the most important position in all of professional sports, one that has been proven to be the hardest to find the missing piece at?
Look at the Cleveland Browns and their two decade search for a quarterback, look at the Pittsburgh Steelers and how stagnant their offense was without Ben Roethlisberger. The Rams have struggled to find a consistent presence under center since the departure of Kurt Warner (hoping Goff solves that problem), and some franchises like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars have never seen elite quarterback play in the existence of their teams.
Get Jerry Jones on the phone and tell him it is time to take a deep breath from negotiations with Dak Prescott. Time is running out for the two sides to come to an agreement on a long term deal, and Prescott knows his worth; the Cowboys must pay Prescott like the elite, young quarterback he is, because the NFL Draft is a crapshoot when looking for a new future.
