Round 2, Pick 54 – Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Belichick does not have a strong record when it comes to drafting wide receivers, with the decision to select N’Keal Harry in the first round in 2019 already looking a questionable one.

Regardless of whether it is Newton or Stidham under center, the Patriots are still a team in need of playmakers and Belichick should continue to take swings on wideouts in the draft.

Olave established himself as a big-play threat for the Buckeyes last season, averaging 17.5 yards per reception as he finished 2019 with 840 yards and 12 touchdowns on 48 catches.

His suddenness allows Olave to create separation with his route-running, but it is at the catch point where he really excels. He is a superb ball tracker who possesses fantastic body control, enabling Olave to adjust to the football and excel in contested-catch situations.

With just 60 receptions in two seasons at Ohio State, NFL teams may be looking for more sustained production from Olave in his junior year.

He will have the opportunity to significantly add to his numbers in 2020 following the departures of K.J. Hill, Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor.

If he can enjoy a dominant season as Justin Fields’ top target, Olave may not be available at this point in the draft.
