The 2021 NFL Draft has a handful of Raheem Mostert replacements for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers were on the verge of greatness a year ago, and journeyman running back Raheem Mostert was a big reason why. However, after he and the 49ers have failed to come to an agreement on an updated deal, it may be time to look at potentially replacing him with a young running back in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Yesterday, Mostert officially asked for a trade from the 49ers, as they have been unwilling to accommodate his contract desires. Reportedly, Mostert only wants to be paid on-par with the highest paid running back on the team in Tevin Coleman; this would put him right at $4.25 million on the last two years of his deal.

Currently, Mostert is making just $2.7 million annually after signing a three-year extension with the 49ers a year ago. In all honesty, the asking price of Mostert is not too high, but still the 49ers have stood their ground, however it would not be a shock if Mostert was just using the request as a bargaining chip, knowing Kyle Shanahan is his ticket to further earnings in the future.

Should the 49ers, however, decide to move on from their 28-year-old late breakout running back, here are four 2021 NFL Draft youngsters who would fit into Shanahan’s offensive system.
