Rakeem Boyd, Arkansas

It is going to be hard to find a guy easier to root for than Arkansas running back Rakeem Boyd.

The star of Netlix’s Last Chance U, Boyd went to Independence Community College in search of a fresh start after academic issues ended his stay at Texas A&M. Throughout season two of LCU, the growth and development of Boyd was palpable, and the passion he displays through football could not be made more evident.

After his one season at Junior College, Boyd made the jump back into power-five football and the SEC with a transfer to Arkansas. He wasted no time making an impact on the ground for the Razorbacks, and now entering his third and final season of eligibility, Boyd looks to make a name for himself in this 2021 NFL Draft class.

During his first season, Boyd rushed for 734 yards and found the endzone twice for the Razorbacks, a season where he split carries. However in his first season as the full time starter at Arkansas last year, Boyd established himself as a top ball carrier in the SEC, rushing for 1,133 yards and scoring eight touchdowns.

If the 49ers want to wait until later in the draft to land their replacement to Raheem Mostert, Boyd may be their guy. From Raheem to Rakeem, Boyd is a name to monitor in this year’s crop of running backs.
