Tony Fields II is heading to the transfer portal to boost his 2021 NFL Draft stock

As the pandemic is shifting the college football season, the 2021 NFL Draft is set to alter drastically. Multiple conferences have already canceled their non-conference games, and multiple players are seeking a transfer to another school; Arizona linebacker Tony Fields II joins the party.

Fields II has had quite a successful collegiate career with the Wildcats through his first three years at Arizona. He has recorded 181 solo tackles, 17 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, eight and a half sacks, and two interceptions throughout his career to this point.

A three-year starter, Fields II is coming off a 2019 campaign where he racked up 58 solo tackles, five tackles behind the line of scrimmage, a sack and a half, and one interception with the Wildcats. He should have quite a few suitors as he is on the move for his last year of eligibility.

Where could Fields II wind up?

Back when he was a recruit out of high school, a former three-star recruit, Fields II received quite a few division I scholarship offers. However, looking at the teams he previously had offers from, none make much sense currently for Fields II.

Back in 2016, Fields II was recruited by the likes of Boise State, Missouri, BYU, Washington State, Oregon State, and Illinois. Realistically, Missouri or Illinois would make the most sense, as he would move to the Big Ten or the SEC; Missouri, however, has stud linebacker Nick Bolton already on their roster so they may now be unwilling (a duo of Bolton and Fields would be dynamic).

For now, Fields II is back in re-recruitment. A player that Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy is fond of, there is certainly an NFL outlook for him as the 2021 NFL Draft is on the horizon.
