Tank for Trevor Lawrence update as NFL training camps are underway

Jaguars still the frontrunner to land Trevor Lawrence
As we enter the training camp period, it is still the Jacksonville Jaguars who lead the race in the Tank for Trevor campaign. Landing a ton of draft capital from the Jalen Ramsey trade, they have landed even more from trading Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears. With Pro Bowl edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue soon to follow, the Jaguars are set to land even more capital.
It does not help that starting quarterback Gardner Minshew has started the season on the COVID-19 list as he has to quarantine before reporting to training camp. Unless Minshew shocks the world this season, the Jaguars are set to land their franchise quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Leonard Fournette is set to depart at this season after the team declined to pick up his fifth-year option, and the defensive side of the ball is not as dominant as it once was. Not only do they have the draft capital to trade up and land Lawrence if they do not land the number one pick, but they also have a lacking roster set to plummet in the standings early and often.
It is the Jaguars’ game to lose in the race for the top-ranked quarterback in this year’s draft class.
