Seattle Seahawks

With the departures of Jadeveon Clowney and Ezekial Ansah, the Seattle Seahawks return just 13 defensive front sacks from 2019. That number would have been 18 with Clowney and Ansah. To put it bluntly, the Seahawks front-four is not very good at creating pressure. In fact, Pro Football Focus ranked the team dead-last among 2020 defensive lines heading into 2020.

On the inside, Jarran Reed hasn’t been the same player since returning from suspension, collecting just two sacks in his 10 games a year ago. Next to him on the interior is Pooma Ford who is strictly a run stopper.

The Seahawks have been desperate across the defensive line since the Super Bowl days a handful of years ago. Jaylen Twyman would go a long way in the effort to plugging a key piece into the interior of the line. The best-case scenario for the Seahawks is securing a player like Twyman and seeing Reed return to form.

As it stands, the NFC West is now full of respectable, although young, starting quarterbacks. To retake the throne in the division, Seattle must find a way to create the same type of pressure their rivals in Los Angeles, Arizona and San Fransisco do. Twyman won’t revamp the defense like an Aaron Donald or Nick Bosa, but he’d certainly put the Seahawks on the right track.
