Where Christensen can improve his game

Perhaps the biggest red flag attached to Christensen, and one he has absolutely no control over is his age. Given his Mormon faith and his attendance at BYU, Christensen has already taken his mission, traveling to New Zealand for this responsibility. With this being said, Christensen is already 23 years old as he enters his redshirt junior season with the Cougars.

Outside of his age, scouts may have concerns about his current weight, again listed at just 300 pounds (teams tend to exaggerate on measurables as well). Already solid in his play strength, we could see Christensen take his game to another level with some added muscle onto his fairly long frame.

The bigger areas of concern, however, with Christensen’s current game involve how he uses his hands and overall consistency on the field. The starting BYU left tackle can frequently get over-eager in pass protection, causing him to reach in order to get his hands on the opposing defensive pressure. This throws off his balance and compromises his anchor as he looks to protect his quarterback as he inevitably begins to bend at the waist.

Christensen must also consistently keep his head on a swivel in pass protection in order to pick up oncoming blitzers who may enter his zone late. Currently, Christensen tends to fixate on the man directly in front of him, engaging too early, allowing a delayed blitz to get around him off the edge.
