Rashawn Slater deserves all of the love in the 2021 NFL Draft
This 2021 NFL Draft class of offensive tackles is not a very strong one, with a couple names at the top, then a lackluster middle ground. It just so happens on of the more consistent offensive tackles, Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater, may be too small to play tackle at the next level.
This, however, does not take away from his consistency and talent as he can still make it at the next level, and even thrive. He will have to prove in this case though that he can succeed in the interior of the offensive line. With the Big Ten pushing its season back to the spring, this case just became more difficult for Slater as Northwestern will not be a widely sought after program to join the Big 12, SEC, or ACC for the 2020 season.
He has started 26 straight game at left tackle for the Wildcats, was named to the third-team All-Big 10, has been training with offensive line guru Duke Manyweather. However, many scouts and general managers will not be able to feel confident drafting a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman to play tackle.
As Slater has a ton to contemplate about his future with the Big Ten postponing his season, here is a scouting report on the talented Wildcat offensive lineman.
