2021 NFL Draft: 4 helmets OT Tommy Doyle fits best in at next level

The Pittsburgh Steelers are nearing the end of an era with one late bloomer at left tackle, so why not take the risk on another in Tommy Doyle? As the Alejandro Villanueva chapter is closing in Pittsburgh, they’ll need to get a replacement in at left tackle sooner rather than later. In addition to Villanueva, the Steelers do not have a solidified starter at the right side either, banking on Zach Banner (who is on his third team since entering the league in 2017) to hold down the job in 2020.
At 6-foot-8 and 326 pounds, Doyle matches the level of physicality the Steelers ask out of their offensive linemen. He would not be the first Miami RedHawk the Steelers would have drafted either, as they spent their first rounder back in 2004 on former Miami quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as well.
If the Steelers want to preserve their often injured and now aging franchise quarterback for a few more years, getting a seasoned college player to slide in at one of those tackle spots would be a wise investment to be made. Doyle fits the bill for the Steelers, and would look quite good in the black and gold helmet should he wind up in Pittsburgh via the 2021 NFL Draft.
As the next steps for Doyle are on the horizon, he is a name for Steelers’ fans to keep a close eye on.
