Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts were almost faced with a tough situation this offseason as starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo nearly walked away from the game. This would have been on the heels of their franchise quarterback Andrew Luck doing the same just a year prior. However, Castonzo opted to remain with the team in 2020, but could he have the same thoughts next offseason?

The Colts restructured his contract to come to a conclusion at the end of the 2021 season, however, it was restructured in a way where the team would be responsible for no dead money should they choose to cut Castonzo or should he choose to retire. Beyond 2020 is no guaranteed thing for the Colts or their fans in regards to the status of their Pro Bowl left tackle.

With Frank Reich at the helm, veteran quarterback Phillip Rivers under-center, and a world of depth and talent on their roster, the window appears to be open for the Colts to make another run in the playoffs in 2020. Should Castonzo decide to hang up his cleats after this season, or should the Colts opt to move on, they must have a succession plan in place at left tackle in 2021.

Doyle could step in for the Colts and give them a solid presence at the left tackle spot in this case.
