2021 NFL Draft: 4 helmets OT Tommy Doyle fits best in at next level
By Cory Kinnan
Kansas City Chiefs
Fresh off their Super Bowl-winning season in 2019, the Kansas City Chiefs made sure to lock down their stars in quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones. With this being said, a year or two down the road the Chiefs are going to have to make financial sacrifices in order to stay competitive and below the salary cap.
One of those cuts to remain financially fluid is likely to be former first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and starting left tackle Eric Fisher. This means the Chiefs’ top priority will be investing in their offensive line next April when the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around and could target Doyle should he be around in Day 2 of the event.
The Chiefs often ask their big men to stay in and pass protect, requiring little lateral movement from their offensive linemen. This is an ideal fit for Doyle as the Chiefs remain in a conference with the likes of Maxx Crosby, Vonn Miller, Bradley Chubb, Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, and more. Protecting their prized jewel in Mahomes is priority number one for the Chiefs and they cannot afford to look past it.
If the price is right for the Chiefs and for Doyle, he could be taking his next snaps in Arrowhead Stadium.
