Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina

North Carolina linebacker Chazz Surratt feels a lot like the players that Miami took in 2020. The Dolphins coaching staff prioritizes teaching. This means they are much more likely to take a prospect that has all the traits necessary to be a good player but lacks ploish and refinement in his game.

Chazz Surratt was playing quarterback not too long ago, and is still learning how to play the linebacker position. He has the athletic upside to be a good NFL linebacker. He just needs to continue to play the position and get better. Miami took a player like this last year: Noah Igbinoghene. Igbinoghene has only been playing cornerback for two years, but is another player with great athletic ability.

The biggest thing he needs to improve on is tackling. That is expected since he has only been playing linebacker for such a short amount of time. He has just one year of experience playing linebacker. It is paramount for him that he gets to play football for North Carolina in 2020. That explains why he decided to play after his brother Sage, a wide receiver for Wake Forest, opted out of the season.

Surratt presents a nice day two option for Miami. If the Dolphins decide that linebacker is not a valuable enough position to select on day one, they have three picks on day two to fill that hole. Chris Grier, the general manager for the Miami Dolphins, selected both Baker and McMillan on day two of their respective drafts.
