Dolphins: Three 2021 NFL Draft replacements for Raekwon McMillan
Merlin Robertson, LB, Arizona State
Arizona State’s Merlin Robertson is a tough evaluation. He has nice length and athleticism, making him extremely versatile. He does a lot for the Sun Devil’s defense. He plays the run pretty well and has the ability to be serviceable against running backs and tight ends coming out of the backfield.
Robertson has the physical tools to be a solid pro. The biggest problem with Robertson is that he does a variety of things well, but does not have a trait that he can hand his hat on. Consistency is key for Robertson in his hopes to be a higher draft pick. As of now, he projects as an early day three pick.
The biggest problem for Robertson is that he does not have a 2020 season to play. The PAC-12 decided to cancel their 2020 college football season due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. They hope to play in the Spring but if Robertson has hopes to be drafted in 2021, playing in the Spring is pointless for him.
The Miami Dolphins obviously need to replace Raekwon McMillan. They may choose to go after a bargain free agent or a trade with another team. However, if they do decide to address their new need with a 2021 draft pick, these three players would be great fits.
