Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern

Paddy Fisher was once regarded as the next can’t-miss prospect at the linebacker position after emerging onto the scene with 113 tackles as a freshman with nine tackles for a loss. He then followed that season up with 116 tackles, five tackles for a loss and one sack as a sophomore in 2018.

Fisher was already generating from first round buzz after the 2019 NFL Draft for the following year. Then he started getting exposed a bit in 2019 and that shine he had started to fade. He dropped to just 89 tackles in 2019 and had issues in pass coverage, leaving some to wonder if he was ready to be a three-down linebacker at the next level.

If 2019 was the last we saw of Fisher at Northwestern, he’s going to be quite the polarizing study for NFL teams and draft analysts alike. Will the league the star-in-the-making that we saw in 2017 and 2018 or the lower-end prospect of 2019?

Getting one more opportunity as a senior leader for the Wildcats would be a welcomed challenge for the 6-4, 246-pound linebacker with the 2021 NFL Draft right around the corner. Should the Big Ten be back on, there is no player who could benefit more than Fisher.
