Michigan Football linebacker Cam McGrone has decided to remain in Ann Arbor

The linebacker class in the 2021 NFL Draft is a deep one, including Penn State’s Micah Parsons, Alabama’s Dylan Moses, and Missouri’s Nick Bolton. However, one talented linebacker will keep the scouts drooling for another year as Cam McGrone has decided to stay with the Michigan football program at least another year.

While McGrone is wildly athletic and flashes on tape, McGrone is still quite raw in his understandings of run fits and responsibilities in coverage for the Wolverines. Now with potentially two more seasons at Michigan, McGrone has all the time in the world to continue to grow as a linebacker in the Big Ten. He has the potential to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of a Big Ten season around Thanksgiving this year.

Cam McGrone hype train started early

Entering his Junior season, McGrone lit up the box score for the Michigan football program in 2019 in his first season as the starter. As a Sophomore, McGrone racked up 38 solo tackles, nine solo tackles, and two and a half sacks for the Wolverines.

An ultra-athlete, McGrone’s ability to flash on tape, getting downhill in a hurry while patrolling sideline-to-sideline. Once he clicks in coverage and in his ability to hit the correct gaps with more consistency, he has the potential to see his draft stock skyrocket.

With the Big Ten potentially pivoting to the late-Fall, McGrone has the chance to play two more seasons for the Wolverines before heading to the NFL Draft. No need to rush, McGrone is making the right choice by taking it slow.
