2021 NFL Draft: 3 ideal fits for QB Jamie Newman at the next level
By Cory Kinnan
Where could Jamie Newman land in the 2021 NFL Draft?
As if 2020 could not get weird enough with the ongoing health crisis throwing all of college football for a loop, it got a bit weirder this week. Former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman, who just transferred to the University of Georgia as a graduate transfer, has decided to opt out of the 2020 season and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft without playing a single snap for the Bulldogs.
While Newman had a chance to see his draft stock take a rise by pairing himself with Air Raid guru Todd Monken, the Bulldogs will now turn to USC transfer quarterback JT Daniels as their starting quarterback. Newman, while he may now have no chance to hear his name called in the top-40, Newman has the physical gifts and live arm to make it at the next level.
Now, Newman will have to prove at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, an event he was originally omitted from the watchlist before being a late add, that he is capable of being a franchise quarterback. What are some of the best fits for Newman as he takes his game to the next level?
The most ideal situation for Newman is to land with a team with a veteran established quarterback on the roster he can sit behind for a year or two before taking over as the starter. Here are three fits for Newman at the next level as he will look to do what it takes between now and the 2021 NFL Draft in order to raise his draft stock after opting out of an opportunity to play in the SEC.
