New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have experienced quite the whirlwind this offseason as Brady departed from Boston after a literal handful of Super Bowl titles. Replacing Brady in 2020 on a one-year deal with the Patriots is former MVP and first overall pick of the Carolina Panther Cam Newton.

While Newton is supposedly 100 percent healthy for the first time in nearly a half of a decade, he is just one hit from hitting injured reserve once again in 2020. Even if the Patriots re-sign Newton far into the future with success this upcoming year in his change of environment, it is safe to have a backup plan other than Jarret Stidham. Newman can be that backup plan for head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

Belichick turned a former sixth round pick in Brady into the greatest quarterback of all-time, so who knows what he could do with Newman under his wing. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels may be the future head coach in New England after the Belichick era, and should he and Newman find a fit with the Patriots, they could be the Brady-Belichick of the next two decades.

It is a funny feeling to see experience the Patriots in limbo and facing uncertainty. Could a new, young quarterback be in the near future for New England?
