Who are the 2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch in SMU vs. Texas State?

The college football season is actually here! There was a moment in recent months that fans couldn’t be sure there would be a college football season as the Coronavirus pandemic raged on. To the delight of players and fans, a few games have already been played with many more on the docket, including SMU vs. Texas State, a matchup that features a handful of 2021 NFL Draft prospects. Surprisingly, this is one of the few non-conference games that have been scheduled since before the pandemic questions started to change the dynamic of college football as a whole.

SMU finished last season with an impressive 10-3 record and return 13 starters from that squad. The Mustangs are a veteran team full of upperclassmen throughout the roster. They figure to be one of the top contenders for the American Athletic Conference Championship. The other contenders for the AAC crown are UCF, Memphis, Cincinnati.

Texas State, meanwhile, struggled in the initial year under first-time head coach Jake Spavital. The Bobcats finished 2019 with a 3-9 record. In fact, Texas State has not topped three wins in any of the past six seasons! They only return 12 starters but do add multiple transfers to fill out the roster. The Bobcats still figure to be big underdogs to the more talented Mustangs.

With both teams being smaller, Group of Five teams, there isn’t a plethora of legitimate NFL talent on either roster. That being said, there are still some good players that have the potential to make an NFL roster in some fashion. Here are the top prospects to watch when the game kicks off on Saturday:
