884. 6-foot-0. 200 pounds. Reggie Roberson. WR. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

A vastly underrated wide receiver

Now that you know about the Mustangs quarterback, it’s time to talk about his favorite target. That of course being wide receiver Reggie Roberson. Roberson actually started his career at West Virginia before transferring to SMU after his freshman season. And he has absolutely flourished with the Mustangs.

In 2018, his first year at SMU, Roberson piled up 52 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns. Last year, he was well on his way to leading the Mustangs in receiving before a season-ending foot injury against Houston. Through eight games, Roberson had piled up 43 catches, 803 yards, and 6 touchdowns. He would have easily cracked 1,000 receiving yards on the year if he had stayed healthy.

Roberson has solid size at 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds. He also has solid speed and quickness to get consistent separation on his routes as well as being able to stretch the field vertically. Roberson is a very good route runner who sets up his routes well and is very smooth in and out of his breaks. He also shows good, strong hands to consistently pluck the ball away from his body.

The biggest question surrounding Roberson for 2020 is: how will he fair now that he is the guy for SMU? In his first two seasons with the Mustangs, he has had the benefit of playing opposite of James Proche, a sixth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2020 NFL Draft. Roberson could be drafted even higher than Proche if he can show he can still produce at a high level with more of the defensive attention on him.
