Quincy Roche, EDGE, Miami

Quincy Roche will be making is Hurricanes debut and we are all in for a treat. Roche transferred from Temple after totaling 26 sacks, 39.5 tackles for loss, and 137 tackles. He was very productive in three seasons at Temple. Now playing with the better talent we should expect more of the same from him in 2020. Roche’s explosiveness out of his stance is a sight to see.

He excels when converting speed to power and understands how to use his length. His hand usage is apparent on film as you see him use a swim move to beat tackles and make plays on the football. He’s sufficient against the run which will be key in stopping the UAB run attack. He flashes a bit of versatility as he’s able to rush with his hand in the dirt or from a stand-up position.

Listed as the 20th overall prospect on The Draft Network’s big board, Joe Marino has a ton of praise to sing about him:

"“Explosive and fluid out of his stance. Knows how to use his footwork to draw offensive tackles out of their set and grease rush angles. Has terrific vision to read the set of the offensive tackle and knows how to attack the pocket.”"

He’s currently listed at 245 pounds which is 10 pounds heavier than what he played at last season. It will be interesting to see how Blake Baker plans on using Roche. Baker loves to run different stunts and line his guys up in many different positions along the defensive line. No, UAB isn’t an elite power five opponent but it’s important to put on a good first impression to start the season.
