Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State

Earlier this year, Kylin Hill was viewed as the player who benefited most from a new head coach. Former Washington State head coach Mike Leach is bringing his famous offense to the deep South after departing from Pullman, Washington. Hill was easily the biggest beneficiary of this coaching change. Leach’s offensive players put up absolutely insane numbers year in and year out.

While he may be in line for a big season, he needs to prove to NFL front offices that he’s a top five running back in this class. I will not be easy as there are some otherworldly talents in this group. Travis Etienne, Chuba Hubbard, and Journey Brown are all unbelievable athletes. Kylin Hill is not in that category, he is in the next tier of running backs. He will be competing with the likes of Kenneth Gainwell, Najee Harris, and Zamir White.

So, how does Hill separate himself from the pack? He needs to prove his worth in the passing game. Mike Leach has a history of getting running backs the ball in the air. Hill has 40 receptions and five touchdowns over the last two seasons. The addition of Leach to the program may allow Hill to be an absolute weapon in the air, and catch the eye of NFL evaluators.

Kylin Hill needs to do almost everything right as a running back to combat his athleticism being less impressive than his counterparts in this draft class. Being a weapon in the air and putting up numbers in Mike Leach’s offense could be the best way to show what he can do. Hill will be drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, but his 2020 season will determine just how high.
