Kansas State vs Oklahoma: 4 2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch
EDGE Ronnie Perkins, Oklahoma
Ronnie Perkins returns after finishing second on the team in 2019 with 13.5 tackles for a loss and six sacks (three in the first meeting with Baylor). It’s easy to see why. Perkins is very active on the defensive line for the Sooners. He is very athletic and does a great job of getting a quick first step, pressing the offensive lineman with his inside arm and keeping contain in the run game and on the quarterback to prevent him from getting outside the pocket.
He has good lateral agility to come up and quickly shift if a team wants to use him in some sort of game or stunt with the defensive line. He is also a good tackler when either defending his gap or in the open field. The big issue, of course, with Perkins is his suspension for what’s been reported as a positive drug test before last season’s Peach Bowl, which is why he didn’t play in the National Semifinal against LSU.
After not playing against Missouri State, Perkins will not play against Kansas State but is absolutely a name to watch when he returns from suspension, which should be October 31 at Texas Tech. Keep a close eye on this one.
