The Cornerbacks

Nick Grant

One of the cornerbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft class that will start getting more attention soon, Nick Grant is off to a fantastic start for the Cavaliers after recording an interception a week ago against Duke. He is coming off of a season with another interception and eight passes defended for the Virginia football defense, and looks poised to put his name on the map in 2020.

He has good length and size at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, and now has one full year of starting experience under his belt as he plays through his Senior season this year. It is a deep cornerback class, and Grant has the potential to make it an even deeper crop of pass defenders with a big year in Charlottesville.

DeVante Cross

Whether it is an advantage and a credit to his versatility, or a disadvantage as he has not gotten to nail down a true position, defensive back DeVante Cross enters the 2020 season as a starting cornerback for the Cavaliers. He started at corner after the injury to Bryce Hall a year ago, but was predominantly a safety in 2019. He’ll be worth the look as he holds value in the pass-heavy nature of the NFL.
