2021 NFL Draft: Rashod Bateman leads prospects to watch in Minnesota vs. Michigan
By JD Bagley
OT Daniel Faalele, Minnesota
Standing 6-foot-9 and 400 pounds, Daniel Faalele is a massive human being.
The ability to move the way he can at his size and the power he plays with is what has NFL scouts so intrigued. Recruited out of Australia before he ever even played a snap of American football, Faalele has always been about potential. He earned All-Big Ten honors in his first two seasons at Minnesota and the scary thing is, he is only scratching the surface of what he could become.
With a couple more years to refine his craft and learn the ins and outs of playing offensive tackle at the highest level, Faalele legitimately has a chance to be an elite level starter in the NFL. However, that comes with projection which is never certain. He has subtle things to improve upon that may not be exposed in college but could prove to be troublesome in the NFL, including inconsistent hand placement and trouble versus speed rushers.
Nevertheless, Faalele has the potential to be a very rare NFL Draft prospect who has the chance to give their 2021 NFL Draft stock a massive boost this season should he put it all together. In a relatively weak tackle class after Oregon’s Penei Sewell, the rest of the slots behind him are still up for grabs.
Can Faalele grab one near the top?
