The legacy carries on for kickers with the Miami Football program

While you might not be familiar with the name Andres Borregales, you certainly will be soon. Andres is a 2021 three-star kicker recruit out of Hollywood, Florida who is often referred to as an “elite” prospect. Despite receiving offers from the likes of Florida International, North Carolina, and Louisville, Borregales has opted to remain in the state of Florda, committing to the Miami Football Hurricanes.

He has every intention of hearing his name called in the NFL Draft, and absolutely has the talent to make it happen. Andres’ brother Jose is also currently the kicker for the Miami Football program, so he will look to carry on the legacy (no pun intended) of his family as he heads to South Beach to begin his collegiate career in 2021.

Jose has made waves recently with his record 57-yard field goal against ACC-rival Louisville. While NCAA rules will allow Jose to stay in school next season, it is assumed he will leave for the NFL, which leaves the Miami kicker position wide open for brother Andres.

Recently, Andres was kind enough to make some time to sit down with me (virtually of course) and answer some questions. I discovered that not only is he a special guy with high football character, but he also possesses a “cold-blooded killer” mentality at a position that often gets overlooked in football. I believe I can speak for him when I say that if you come away with anything from this article, it’s this: Kickers are people too!
