Where could Jamie Newman land in the 2021 NFL Draft?

Jamie Newman needs a strong pre-draft process after opting out of the 2020 college football season and will see live action ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft following the confirmation that the former Wake Forest quarterback will be a part of the Senior Bowl.

Newman was expected to head to the draft with a season against SEC competition under his belt after transferring to Georgia.

That would have been vital experience for a player who struggled against elite college competition in 2019 when Wake Forest took on Clemson, completing six of 14 passes for 41 yards and two interceptions.

However, Newman understandably decided to put his safety first and skip this season to focus on his preparations for the pros, meaning evaluators will have only one full campaign of starting tape to look at when they make their determination on his worth.

Newman’s choice has unquestionably hurt his draft stock as quarterbacks such as Zach Wilson and Mac Jones have boosted theirs with stellar 2020 seasons.

It is, therefore, imperative that Newman shines in the pre-draft season as he tries to convince teams to select him in the early rounds. He will hope for an impressive week of practice in Mobile and standout performance in Senior Bowl game to bolster his standing.

That still is unlikely to be enough to put him in the conversation with the top quarterbacks in the class but, because of his enticing physical tools, plenty of franchises are likely to have interest in him as a signal-caller they can develop into a potential starter.

Here we examine three possible team fits for one of the more polarizing quarterbacks in the 2021 class.
