2. DT Haskell Garrett

Ohio State consistently churns out NFL-caliber defensive tackles, and will have two more drafted this year. Tommy Togiai is a 300-pound run-stuffing one-tech with some pass-rush juice, and Haskell Garrett has burst onto the scene as a disruptive three-tech. He is lucky to be alive, as he was shot in the face while trying to break up a fight back in August.

Garrett did not play much over his first three years in Columbus, as he was active for a combined 13 games over that span. With Davon Hamilton and Jashon Cornell drafted in 2020, Garrett finally got his chance to become a starter, and he’s taken full advantage of that opportunity. At this point, he will likely end up as a third or fourth-round pick, which is where the Browns should be looking to add a defensive tackle.

Larry Ogunjobi has continued to regress, and is unlikely to be re-signed. Sheldon Richardson is due $13 million in 2021 with an out in his contract. Jordan Elliott has been inconsistent as a rookie, and Andrew Billings opted out of the 2020 season.

The Cleveland defensive tackle room is going to look very different in 2021, and the front office clearly values playable depth at that position. Rotating players in and out based on the situation and keeping everyone fresh and healthy is very important. and adding another disruptive pass-rusher would be very smart.

The Browns have not drafted very many Buckeyes, but given how dominant the program has been over the past decade, it is a pretty good idea.
