Would Ohio State be open to the move?

As an elder statesman in the secondary, however, it will be interesting to see if he has any influence with his coaching staff or if he is stuck in a miscast role. The Buckeyes have two other ascending cornerbacks in Sevyn Banks and Tyreke Johnson who could play outside the numbers, with Josh Proctor or Marcus Williamson in the nickel.

In the third level of their defense, however, they have been hit with massive woes after the graduation of Jordan Fuller. Marcus Hooker, the younger brother of former Ohio State safety and first round pick Malik Hooker, is currently starting at safety for the Buckeyes.

He is coming off of a miserable showing against the Hoosiers, and has proven to be replaceable. The smart move for the Buckeyes to make would be to move Wade to safety, and let the young athletes in Banks and Johnson patrol outside the numbers for their secondary.

Not only could Banks and Johnson see a rise, but Wade can pick up the pieces of what has been a tumultuous 2020 season thus far for the scarlet and grey. If the coaches are up to it, or if the veteran in Wade has any pull, the move from cornerback to safety could be in the best interest of  both the player and the team in Columbus.
