4 under the radar 2021 NFL Draft prospect balling out led by Jaelan Phillips

Jaret Patterson, Running Back, Buffalo
Patterson has been a very productive back during his tenure with Buffalo. He entered the 2020 year as one of the most established backs in the country, coming off a 2,000 yards season during the 2019 season. This season has been no different with only three games under his belt.
Perhaps his most impressive feat occurred last week though, when he had 31 carries for 301 yards and four touchdowns versus Bowling Green. Yes you read that right, Patterson had 301 yards and four touchdowns in one single game.
Chris Spooner of Pro Football Network sings the praises of Patterson:
"“One of the biggest things I look for in a running back is the ability to create more yards than a play is designed for. This can come in several different ways. For some running backs, it’s the strength to keep their legs moving and push the pile. For others, it’s the home-run speed to turn a moderate gain into a touchdown. For Jaret, it comes in the form of being slippery.”"
This year’s running back class is a bit of an unknown after the top two guys, Travis Etienne and Najee Harris. This opens the door for backs like Patterson and others to close the gap and enter the picture, especially if he continues the dominant play we have seen over the past two seasons.
Patterson is a very consistent all around back, though he does not excel in any certain areas. He has a compact build and is a powerful back who is highly effective working between the tackles.
Due to the strength behind his frame he is able to create after contact, and won’t go down without a fight. He isn’t the most explosive back and he likely won’t be one to hit different gears when he enters the open field.
