Draft Need #3: Offensive Tackle

The Broncos solidified the left side of their offensive line for the next four years after signing Garett Bolles to an extension that makes him the fifth-highest paid offensive tackle in the NFL. The right side, however, has been a rotating door for the Broncos in 2020. After JuWuan James opted to sit out the 2020 season, Elijah Wilkinson was thrust into the starting role.

Inconsistent play and injuries landed him on injured reserve and made Demar Dotson the starter. With Dotson also dealing with injuries, the Broncos played Jake Rodgers and Calvin Anderson at the position.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, the Broncos should look at targeting an offensive tackle to compete for the right tackle spot, even if James is back for the 2021 season. Whether it’s an early selection or a later one, the Broncos should have plenty of opportunities to snag a competitive offensive tackle in the 2021 NFL Draft.

With players like Michigan’s Jalen Mayfield, Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater, and Northern Iowa’s Spencer Brown in this class, there will be opportunities to find an eventual replacement for James on the right side.
