New England Patriots: QB per first 4 rounds of 2021 NFL Draft to target
By Cory Kinnan
Round 4: Jamie Newman, Georgia
Nobody had a bigger whirlwind of an offseason than quarterback Jamie Newman. After four years at Wake Forest, Newman opted to transfer as a graduate student to the University of Georgia to team up with their new offensive coordinator Todd Monken. However, just two weeks before the opening game of the season, Newman opted out of the season and declared for the draft.
Newman had a chance to take his game to another level and boost his draft stock, instead he will more than likely land on day-three of the 2021 NFL Draft. The New England Patriots have landed a top tier quarterback on the third day of the NFL Draft before, and if they opt to take a gunslinger late, Newman would be a likely target.
The 6-foot-4 and 230 pound quarterback has a career 60 percent completion percentage, throwing for 35 career touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He had his first season as a fulltime starter in 2019 with the Demon Deacons, throwing for 2,868 yards passing, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He will now go to the Reese’s Senior Bowl with a chance to prove to NFL teams he is worth the investment.
Look for the Patriots to have an eye on him.
