Still room for growth
As a young player entering his prime as a prospect, Marshall Jr. would have benefitted from a full season in Baton Rouge in 2020. He will begin his pro career in 2021 after starting only one full season at LSU, and that experience is a big question mark. With that lack of full-time starting experience comes a need for improvement as a route runner and blocker.
Marshall Jr. has a nice frame for a big receiver, but he needs to learn to be more physical in the running game. If he can improve as a run blocker, that all-around game will allow him to become a full-time player for an NFL team. LSU’s run game has struggled more this season after multiple personnel losses to the 2020 NFL Draft.
While Marshall Jr. runs good routes for a player with his experience level, he could stand to improve and become more explosive getting in and out consistently. He has dependable hands, but his ability as an all-around receiver will depend on his improvements on those routes.
