Who has the better 2021 NFL Draft outlook?

Both Lance and Wilson will likely land in the top-10 of the 2021 NFL Draft as there are numerous teams in need of new quarterbacks after the season, but who has the edge? This is a difficult discussion to settle on, because quarterback success at the next level is heavily dependent on both scheme and coaching fit.

So the question now shifts to: who is the better prospect, regardless of fit?

Despite the success of Wilson and the lack of playing time for Lance this year for the Bison, the edge still falls into the lap of the redshirt sophomore phenom. This does not diminish the season Wilson has had in 2020 or the potential prospect he will be when the main event in April rolls around. However, with the natural gifts and physical tools of Lance, NFL teams will be chomping at the bit for the opportunity to land the North Dakota State sensation.

It is disappointing we have not gotten to see Lance this season and will have to wait until the NFL Scouting Combine to see him again, but recency bias has had an undoubtedly obvious impact on this conversation as well. If this writer was a general manager and both prospects were on the board, Lance would be the selection over the BYU gunslinger in Wilson, and there would not be any second guessing.
